This piece of stoneware was recently bought locally. I am not exactly sure why it has the holes on top, possibly to let steam escape, or if it was used to dry garlic, ginger, etc to allow the moisture out so it doesnt rot.
It measures approx 6 inches across and 5 inches tall not including the top knob of the lid. It is in good condition, it does show wear which shows its age, there is a chip on the inside of the lid, see photo. A seam can be seen going across the top of the lid, which is also a sign of its age.
This may be a nice piece to add to your stoneware collection.
