**Tinctureof Garlic**

Garlicis an herb that is known to have been used by humans for thousands ofyears. It is a part of the onion genus (Allium) and is used for bothof its food and medicinal properties.
Asa medicine, garlic has an extensive repertoire of uses, particularlyin relation to the heart and blood system. Garlic has been found tolower cholesterol, reduce blood pressure, regulate blood sugarlevels, enhance thiamin absorption, and even fight the common cold. It also has antiseptic, anti-fungal, disinfectant, andantibacterial properties. Dosages:
Atypical dose of this tincture is 30 drops, which would containapproximately 2 mg Allicin.
How to take it?
Ourtinctures contain 40% grain alcohol in order to preserve the qualityof the solution. Since alcohol can have a rather offensive taste, wehave a number of suggestions for how to ingest this:
Place the drops directly under the tongue and chase with a small glass of water, juice, or any other fluid that may taste more pleasant
Place the drops directly in an ounce or so of water or other fluid and drink that
If serving to children under the age of 21, or if you want to avoid the harsh taste of the alcohol, you can either let the tincture sit out or heat it up on very low heat, until the alcohol evaporates (alcohol evaporates faster than water)

Evenif perfect separation of liquid from plant matter was possible, itwould only contain 50% of the valuable constituents of the plant,because in solution there is an equilibrium of active componentsdispersed between the plant matter and the liquid. Again, this isonly in theory, it is actually impossible to extract all of theliquid from the plant matter, so more than 50% of the activeconstituents would be left unused in the plant matter. Othersuppliers claim to use large quantities of plant material, but theydo not specify whether it is fresh or dry. Fresh plant materialcontains 80% or more water by weight.
